Often, as I look at myself in the mirror before I go to work, I lament that I am not the most fashionable dresser in the office. Or in the city. Maybe in the state or nation. So be it. Frumpy wrinkled clothes are comfortable. Like a good friend.

So, you had better like me for who I am and not what I look like.

I have been caught up in the custom suits and fancy shirts with imported silk ties at one time in my life. Now I’d rather be me, and be real.

Websites and social media are like that. Yesterday, I had two customers ask the same question when looking at some of the sites that we have created. “The sites aren’t exciting looking. I want Flash and circles and more colors”.

My response was this. ( Here’s a clue: Neither of their sites have pulled any traffic whatsoever.) Would you rather have a site that looks nice but sucks in driving business to you, or one that works? Of course, you want the one that has all the technical stuff written inside. The inside code that screams to the search engines HERE WE ARE! COME BUY FROM OUR BUSINESS!

End of story.

So I have made a new years resolution to upgrade my wardrobe, but stay true to what’s inside of me.

And I don’t think Jesus has ever made GQ’s best dressed list. Maybe it was his message inside that counted.
